All Epiphyseal ACL Reconstruction Improves Knee Kinematics

ثبت نشده
چکیده

INTRODUCTION Treatment of ACL injuries in skeletally immature patients is complicated by the fact that adult reconstruction techniques violate the growth plate, potentially leading to leg length discrepancies and angular deformities in skeletally immature patients. ACL injuries are commonly treated conservatively until growth plate closure; however, cartilage damage, meniscal injuries, and early osteoarthritis are common. The Anderson technique for pediatric ACL reconstruction utilizes all epiphyseal tunnels adjacent to the growth plate [1]. ACL injury leads to increased anterior translation, internal rotation, medial shift and valgus orientation of the tibia, with the largest changes occurring with the knee near full extension [2, 3]. The current study was performed to determine if all-epiphyseal reconstruction can reverse the kinematic changes caused by ACL injury.

Dynamic evaluation of pivot-shift kinematics in physeal-sparing pediatric anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction techniques.

BACKGROUND Conventional transphyseal anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction techniques in skeletally immature patients have been questioned because of potential physeal injuries. Consequently, multiple alternative reconstruction options have been described to restore stability while sparing the physes in the skeletally immature patient. HYPOTHESIS All pediatric reconstruction techniq...

All-epiphyseal, all-inside anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction technique for skeletally immature patients.

Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries are an increasingly recognized problem in the juvenile population. Unfortunately, outcomes with conservative treatment are extremely poor. Adult reconstruction techniques are inappropriate to treat skeletally immature patients because of the risk of physeal complications, including limb-length discrepancy and angular deformities. "Physeal-sparing" recon...

Outcome of ACL Reconstruction and Concomitant Articular Injury Treatment

Background: Articular cartilage injuries are a common clinical problem at the time of ACL reconstruction with an incidence rate of 16-46%. Good results of ACL reconstruction combined with the treatment of chondral lesions have been published in some studies. Method: After statistical analysis 30 patients were selected and divided in 2 groups. TheFfirst group consisted of 15 patients wite isol...

Relationship between Femoral Intercondylar Notch Narrowing on Radiography and Anatomical and Histopathologic Integrity of Anterior Cruciate Ligament in Patients Undergoing Total Knee Replacement Surgery

Abstract Introduction: The presence of cruciate ligaments are very important for normal knee kinematics. Knee arthroplasty prostheses, in which these ligaments are maintained, have better kinematics. The aim of the present study was to investigate the association between femoral intercondylar notch narrowing in radiography and clinical and histopathologic integrity of anterior cruciate li...

Comparing the Kinematics of the Lower Limb Joints in Jump-Landing Maneuver Among Soccer Players With and Without Histories of Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction

Background: Jumping and landing are common activities in soccer, i.e., associated with Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injuries in the players, especially when experiencing fatigue. The current study aimed to compare the kinematics of the lower limb joints in jump-landing maneuver among soccer players with and without a history of anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. Methods: Among acti...
